The White County Ambulance Service isn’t the only outfit benefitting from the most recent round of Absher Charitable Foundation gifts. NCOE School District announced at their most recent school board meeting an $84,786 donation that will be used to purchase two weapons detection systems for the elementary and high school along with eleven new smart projectors for classroom use. Superintendent Matt Vollman made the announcement; he also presented a new office design/layout and the science lab remodel for the high school. One other improvement included the cafeteria sound system. Mrs. Humphrey was able to secure a grant for that upgrade.
In old business, the fiscal year audit showed the school district is under budget with no adverse findings. The audit showed stable fund balances and fiscal responsibility with 209 operating days of cash on hand.
Board members also reviewed the upcoming tax levy with two options including one that showed a 4.9% increase which would generate an estimated $157,974 in new money. The other option was a no increase levy.
Following a 14 minute executive session, the board accepted resignations from Blake Drone as Jr. High baseball coach and Cole Roberson as 5th grade basketball coach. The board approved hires of Jace Carter as a teacher, Kendra Kelley as an aide, and beginning in August, 2026 a motion to hire Haley Stratman as building secretary. The board also approved Joe Gray to be brought on as a 5th/6th grade volunteer basketball assistant.
The school district will reconvene on December 17th.
