National Child Abuse Prevention Month proclaimed in Carmi

National Child Abuse Prevention Month,  is an annual observance in the United States dedicated to raising awareness and preventing child abuse. April has been designated Child Abuse Prevention Month in the United States since 1983.

Every April Child Abuse Prevention Month is an opportunity to learn about the signs of child abuse and how to prevent it.

Communities around the nation come together to support families and children by reinforcing strategies that are working and by providing resources and activities to help end child abuse and neglect.

Mayor Jeff Pollard was joined today by City Clerk Cynthia Attebury and representatives from the Guardian Center, Egyptian Health, Carmi Police Department, White County Sheriff’s Department and White County State’s Attorney’s Office to Proclaim April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Carmi.
