Friday afternoon, the White County Sheriff’s Department took a report of a limb falling on an RV while parked at Burrell’s Woods. The Carmi Parks Department was dispatched to remove the limb.
Early Saturday morning, White County Dispatch received a report of a naked male subject on Main Street. White County Sheriff’s deputies, Carmi Police officers, and Jail staff encountered 28 year old Zachary Bassemier of Carmi in the alley between the Jail and the Courthouse at 2:16 am. Bassemier was completely nude and under the influence of an unknown substance. Bassemier was taken into custody and was evaluated by the White County Ambulance Service. At 8:15 am, the Sheriff’s Department responded to a call from Plum Street Pharmacy, where clothes and a backpack had been found outside. A wallet with Bassemier’s ID was recovered, and hypodermic syringes were found in a pair of shorts and the backpack. More charges are expected to be filed.
Sunday night, Brittany Mathis of Enfield reported that two individuals had stolen a motorcycle from her residence. Mathis told deputies that just after 11 pm, she heard noises coming from behind her home, and saw a pickup driving away. Mathis also reported damage to her van, stating it appeared someone had used a sledgehammer on the doors and hood.
