Monday White County Court News

A Carmi man sentenced to a year in jail on a Possession of Drug Paraphernalia charge back in 2018 and then sentenced to 3 years behind bars in the Department of Corrections in a separate case that dates back to 2022 received his latest judgment in White County court Monday.  The most recent case related to a March 1, 2026 incident resulted in 34-year-old Daniel Desper being charged with Battery and Criminal Damage to Property.  On Monday, Desper agreed to a plea deal which saw him take a conviction on the Battery charge with the Criminal Damage charge dismissed.  Desper was fined and faces two years of conditional discharge.  Desper was also ordered to have no contact with the victim.

 

A Crossville man was in court for a first appearance Monday after having a warrant served on him.  23-year-old McGwire Aschenbrenner appeared before Judge Webb Monday morning on a charge of being a Felon in Possession of a Weapon and another charge of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.  The alleged incident in question occurred on Thursday, April 23rd.  The state filed a motion to deny Aschenbrenner’s pre-trial release which was granted.  A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 18th.

 

31-year-old Christopher Wilton of Grayville made a first appearance in White County court Monday.  According to online court records, Wilton was arrested on Sunday and charged with Domestic Battery.  A petition to deny Wilton’s pre-trial release was denied and he was freed following the court appearance.  A formal arraignment has been scheduled for scheduled for June 1st.

 

Norris City resident David Jolley, it appears could be headed to serve a jail term.  The 46-year-old was sentenced to two years of probation about a year ago after agreeing to a plea deal and a conviction of Receiving a Stolen Vehicle.  A charge of Burglary was dismissed as per the agreement.  On Monday in court, Jolley admitted to violating his probation and a resentencing hearing was scheduled for July 6th.
