Mill Shoals Plans Town-Wide Trash Pickup and Possible Selling of Former Grade School

Attorney Turpin was in attendance at the Village of Mill Shoals April board meeting to answer questions and discuss the possibility of selling the former grade school property.
The grade school property, including the old schoolhouse, gymnasium, and land, was a primary topic of discussion. During the meeting, Attorney Turpin noted that 8 years and 7 months ago, grant funding had been received to repair the school building’s roof. Building on this, the board agreed to reach out to USDA RD, which issued the grant funding.
Board members asked Attorney Turpin to write a collection letter to a Village resident who owed the Village restitution money for running over a fire hydrant. They also asked for Turpin’s opinion on how the board should deal with some properties that were collecting trash and other debris on the homeowner’s properties. Turpin explained that the board would need to gather all information to present to a Judge if the individuals were in violation of the Village ordinance.
Moving on to other business, the Mill Shoals town-wide trash pickup will consist of a dumpster at Village Hall from June 5 to June 10. Residents will need to bring items to the dumpster and avoid dumping illegal items, such as electronics, tires, paint, or appliances. The board will install cameras to monitor.
The City of Fairfield had reached out to the board about mosquito spraying for Mill Shoals. The board approved to have them spray, and they will be billed monthly.
Logan Staton was employed by the board for the WADI Workforce Initiative and Opportunity Act Summer Program.
Lastly, Board President Isaacs stated that he would reach out to Wayne White to find out how much they charge for water billing. Clerk Tullis stated that Enfield could provide information on online payments.
