Sheffel Boyle CPA’s , who has been auditing the city’s financials was the only company to present a bid to do the audits. The board will look over the proposal and discuss it at next month’s meeting.
There was the first reading of an ordinance amending Chapter 21 of the city’s Class E-2 liquor license, which includes raising the amount of E-2 licenses from one to five. The board will consider the changes and vote on it next month.
Concerning parceling out the one half acre property across from the Fire department, there was a proposal to put up a building on the property for alcohol sales of beer, wine and spirits featuring locally crafted product. The board decided to survey the land and do an appraisal first before deciding on whether to accept the proposal.
Regarding the city pool, it was decided that in order to make running it more cost effective, swimming was relegated to every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from Noon to 5 PM each day. Pool parties can be held at any time.
The Animal Control Agreement McLeansboro has with the county was discussed. The agreement says the county provides the vehicle and the city has to pay for gas and maintenance. The city also pays for food for the animals. Mayor Chad May has been talking to the county about the issue, and no action was taken.
The Consent Agenda was approved. It included an explanation of a prior loan to the FFI Board in the amount of $1,416.67 for a matching grant for fire hoses. The city covered the front end of the grant money with reimbursed funds. It also included a resolution allowing the Illinois Codification Service to update the McLeansboro City Code book. It cost the city $2,500 and will be put up on the city’s website.
The board went into an Executive Session at 6:12 PM to discuss employment of specific individuals and will then post for a position in the electric department.
