McLeansboro City Council Sets Opening for Pool and More

The McLeansboro City Council meeting was moved to Monday Night, due to being originally scheduled for election night, March 17th.  Scott Mareing was at the 35 minute meeting and has this report…

A fairly routine meeting saw the board approve continuing their agreement with PEFA Inc. to supply natural gas to the city.

They also approved an ordinance that amended Chapter 21 of the Class E-2 Liquor License, increasing the number of licenses from one to five.

Sheffield Boyle CPA will continue to do the city audit.  They were the only ones to put in a bid.

As far as the city pool is concerned, it was decided that three more people will be hired to bring the total to eight.  Applications will be due one week before McLeansboro’s next board meeting on April 21st.  Hourly wages will be the same as last year and the pool will open on May 28th.

There was first reading of an ordinance on Fiscal Year 2027 Appropriations.  It is being worked on and will be brought up at next month’s meeting.

No action was taken regarding adding more parking around the square due to lack of a motion.

It was decided that they will hire two more city workers.

The Consent Agenda was approved, which included a Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Amendment and an Ordinance on a Fiscal Year 2026 Appropriations Amendment, which is basically moving funds around to fit the budget.

The board went into Executive Session at 6:05 PM to discuss employment of a specific individual, collective negotiating matters between the public and its employees, and discussion of minutes legally closed under the Open Meetings Act.  No action was to be taken.
