35-year-old Charley Buchanan of Sycamore in Carmi is out on pre-trial release following an arrest Saturday evening. It was just before 7pm when Carmi Police say they pulled Buchanan over on Burrell at Marguerite. She was taken into custody on a charge of Driving while License Revoked and also cited for Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle by a Driver. The U-Haul she was driving was towed from the scene and is currently impounded. Buchanan was booked and released with a notice to appear shortly after 8pm.
In the early morning hours of Saturday, Carmi Police arrested 37-year-old Krystal Garrett of New
Haven. Police say they were called to a verbal domestic situation just before 3am at a Bradshaw Street address and subsequently arrested Garrett on a charge of Driving Under the Influence as well as a charge of DUI with a BAC of .08 or more. Garrett was booked and released with a notice to appear just after 4:30am.
Also Saturday, just after midnight, Carmi Police arrested a 22-year-old Chicago man on Oak at 6th Street. Police pulled over and arrested Kenny Calzadilla-Contreras on a charge of Driving while License Suspended. The Venezuelan born Cook County man was issued a Notice to Appear and given a court date of June 2nd.
Friday afternoon, Carmi Police arrested 40-year-old Jason Ballard of Carmi on a warrant for
Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding. The arrest happened on Schumaker just before 4pm. The warrant dates back to an April 10th incident. In accordance with conditions of the warrant, Ballard was kept at the White County Jail and will be due in court Monday morning.
