WROY/WRUL Local Sports Recap

The Carmi-White County Football team picked up their first win of the 2026 season Friday night, defeating Hamilton County 16-14.

Carmi jumped out to an 8-0 lead midway through the 2nd quarter on a 10-yard touchdown run by Cooper Hill, and the Bulldogs took that lead into halftime.

The Foxes marched down on their first possession of the 2nd half to score and cut the Bulldog lead to 8-6, but Carmi then answered with their own touchdown drive, capped off with a 2-yard touchdown run by Kyzen Edwards to put the Bulldogs up 16-6.

Hamilton County pulled within two late in the 4th quarter and had a chance to take the lead, but the Bulldogs came up with a big defensive stop as Keaton Grant forced a fumble, which was recovered by Kyzen Edwards to seal the 16-14 victory.

The win improves Carmi’s record to 1-2 on the year, as it also snapped a 13-game losing streak, dating back to October 2024.

Friday’s win also marks the first win for Head Coach Clinton Wolff. Wolff spent 19 years as an assistant for former Head Coach Kurt Simon, and after a difficult 2025 season, Wolff picks up his first career win.

The Bulldogs were led in rushing by Jazz Duckworth who had 65 yards on 11 carries.
Dakota Brown had 54 yards on 9 carries.
Cooper Hill had 47 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
Branson Burnett went for 34 yards on 5 carries.
Kyzen Edwards had 23 yards and a touchdown on 6 carries.
Carmi will be back at home this Friday as they will host Red Hill.
