The Carmi-White County Jr. High Softball team punched its ticket to the SIJHSAA Regional Championship with a dominant 10-0 victory over Olney in the regional semifinal on Thursday.
The Lady Bullpups wasted little time getting their offense going, putting five runs on the board in the bottom of the 1st inning. Auna Goff, Alyss Courson, Graecelyn O’Neal, and Emma Ricketts each drove in runs during the big opening inning as Carmi jumped out to an early 5-0 lead.
Carmi continued to add to its advantage in the 2nd inning, scoring three more runs. Courson, Goff, and O’Neal each came through with another RBI, extending the Lady Bullpups’ lead to 8-0.
The Lady Bullpups added another run in the 3rd inning when Ricketts scored on an RBI groundout from Aniyah Huff, making it 9-0.
Carmi tacked on one more run in the 4th inning when Ricketts drove in Goff to push the lead to 10-0.
With the Lady Bullpups just three outs away from ending the game early, Olney went down in order in the top of the 5th inning. The 10-run rule was then put into effect, giving Carmi-White County the 10-0 victory.
Carmi will face Mt. Carmel in the SIJHSAA Regional Championship on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Archie Brown Field.
