The Carmi-White County Junior High Softball team picked up a 4-inning win over Olney on Monday, winning by a final score of 13-1.
The Lady Bullpups got on the board first in the top of the first inning when Auna Goff came around to score on a wild pitch, giving Carmi an early 1-0 lead.
Olney answered in the bottom of the first inning, scoring a run to tie the game at 1-1 after one inning of play.
Carmi took control in the top of the second inning, breaking the game open with a six-run rally. Graecelyn O’Neal and Cabella Emery led off the inning with back-to-back singles before Alyss Courson brought home a run with an RBI single. Auna Goff followed with an RBI groundout to put the Lady Bullpups ahead 3-1.
The scoring continued in the second when Mollie Burnett drove in a pair with an RBI triple. Emma Ricketts followed with an RBI single, and Sophia Jamison added an RBI triple as Carmi suddenly found itself on top 6-1.
The Lady Pups added one more run in the top of the second when Aniyah Huff delivered an RBI single, giving Carmi a 7-1 advantage heading into the third inning.
Carmi added three more runs in the top of the third inning. The Lady Bullpups took advantage of two Olney errors, while Kai Wiggins added an RBI single to push the lead to 10-1.
The Lady Pups put the finishing touches on the victory in the top of the fourth inning, plating three more runs. Emery, Courson, and Goff each came around to score on wild pitches, extending Carmi’s advantage to 13-1.
Olney was unable to answer in the bottom of the fourth, bringing the game to an end after four innings with the Lady Bullpups earning the 13-1 victory.
Emery picked up the win in the circle, pitching all four innings. She allowed just one run on four hits while striking out nine Olney batters.
