A follow-up was conducted regarding an issue from the December Village of Mill Shoals’ board meeting. A resident had run over a village fire hydrant and had not made a payment since April 2025. The individual later told Clerk Tullis that the remaining restitution would be paid in January. Based on this update, the board chose to delay contacting the Village attorney about legal action. After this discussion, the meeting shifted to law enforcement matters.
Policing with Enfield began in January. Officer Smythe attended the Mill Shoals January meeting to introduce himself to the board. At this meeting, concerns were brought to his attention, mainly about Route 45 and Burnt Prairie Road.
Mill Shoal residents will see their garbage rates increase by $1 on April 1st.
There is an update on the water project funding. The water rate study is underway. It was submitted to the Illinois Rural Water Association in November 2025. This will help with grants from the Delta Regional Authority. The board is still contacting the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Flood Control. The White County Engineer meeting has not yet occurred. Superintendent Carter shared that the Lead Service Line Inventory has been accepted by the ILEPA.
Moving on with the Treasurer’s Report, Village Treasurer Murphy told the board that the W-2’s would be ready to mail out soon.
For old business, Meals on Wheels was brought up at last month’s meeting. Trustee Smothers created a questionnaire to send to locals to gauge interest. They will post flyers around town and post on social media. The board agreed to wait to see how the community reacts.
