The Carmi-White County Bulldogs will host Edwards County for their final home game of the season as they will honor their six seniors for Senior Night 2025.
The Bulldogs enter Friday’s game with an 0-7 record, the most losses they’ve had in a single season since 1997 (Kurt Simon’s first season). Although the year has not gone as planned, the Dogs are coming off their best offensive performance of the season, despite a 48-14 loss at CZRE. The Bulldogs rushed for 298 yards behind an injured offensive line with a backfield full of sophomores and freshmen. Carmi will be looking to replicate that performance against an Edwards County team who also hasn’t had the best of luck in 2025, the Lions enter Friday’s game with a 1-6 record.
The Lions have had their struggles since joining the Black Diamond Conference in 2016. Since then, they’ve gone a combined 23-64 including just seven wins since the pandemic. Edwards County is the smallest football school in the BDC, but with an increase in numbers at the Jr. Pro level the Lions have some excitement for the coming years.
The Lions have certainly had their moments in 2025. In Week 1, they battled Fairfield all the way to the final buzzer, losing 38-33. It was much of the same in Week 2, falling 24-14 to Eldorado. In Week 6, they defeated Hamilton County 14-13. Despite their record, they’ve been competitive.
Much like the Bulldogs, the Lions are a run-first team. They look to get the ball into the hands of their best players, and they are quarterback Jax Duncan (#22) and running back Brodie Dardeen (#5). Dardeen leads the Lions in rushing with 480 yards on 87 carries with 4 touchdowns. Jackson Hensley (#21) and Dylan Prather (#12) will also get involved in the running game. Hensley has 61 yards on 13 carries, and Prather has 78 yards on 14 carries. What makes Edwards County’s offense unique is their ability to run the quarterback option.Duncan has 243 rushing yards of his own with 4 rushing touchdowns, to go along with 329 passing yards with 4 passing touchdowns.
Duncan’s favorite target through the air is Wyatt Greathouse (#11), he has 181 yards on 16 receptions with 3 touchdowns. Jackson Hensley (#21) has 174 yards on 15 catches with 2 touchdowns.
“We will see an option style offense for the first time all year. We will have to stay disciplined on defense. Their QB also has the ability to throw the ball so we will have to take care of our responsibilities and read our keys well,” said CWC Head Coach Clinton Wolff.
Fans can watch and listen to Friday’s game on 97.3 FM WRUL and the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel. Kickoff is set for 7 PM, the Senior Night Ceremony will be streamed on YouTube.
