At the 18 minute meeting, in unfinished business, the board accepted the lone bid from Carmi Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for a seven to nine passenger driver’s education van in the amount of $41,519.81. The bid specifications were met.
In new business, Superintendent Jarrod Newell ran down the major repairs needed for the various school buildings. The board agreed to seek local and/or public bids and will bring them up at next month’s meeting.
Two joint agreements were approved. One is an intergovernmental agreement with Southern Illinois School District Cooperative NFP for purchasing and furnishing of goods and services for the cafeteria, and the other is a joint vocational agreement with qualified and participating districts with the Ohio Wabash Valley Regional Vocational System to offer programs for better educational advantages.
In the Superintendent’s report, Jarrod Newell said the spring musical Annie Jr. was performed by the CWCHS Fine Arts Department March 13th to the 15th. Students and staff will be on spring break from March 30th to April 3rd. The district will continue to provide after-school tutoring for elementary students that qualify. Lincoln and Jefferson will hold a Summer School Bridge Program again this summer for incoming students to provide support and help them transition into this new school year. March 1st to the 7th was School Social Work Appreciation Week and Newell thank them for the work they do. State testing will take place this month and April. And Newell thanked the teachers, staff, administrators and the Board of Education for their commitment to providing the best education possible for our students.
The Consent Agenda was approved, which includes approval of the 2026-27 school calendar, the 2026-27 open house, inservice and parent/teacher conferences dates, and renewing membership in the IHSA.
The board went into closed session at 6:18 PM to discuss personnel and a review of closed session minutes.
