Grayville is getting a new city vehicle and new salt spreaders. Those actions were taken during a special meeting lasting just under 10 minutes Monday morning.
The truck, a 2021 Dodge Ram from Jansen Auto Group in Carmi will replace the 2017 Ford Explorer with more than 94,000 miles. It’s being purchased at a cost of $31,456 and that money will be coming out of Revolving Loan Funds or as Mayor Travis Thompson refers to them, “Terrabis Money”. Rather than trading that former squad car in on the new purchase, it will be offered up along with four other pieces of equipment for sealed bid. More on that in a moment.
Also Monday, leaders agreed to purchase two salt spreaders totaling $9,764. Those are being purchased from Meyer Truck Equipment.
In addition to the 2017 Ford Explorer, commissioners chose to put up for bid a 1990 Ford F350 Super Duty Boom truck with 179,000 miles; a 2012 Ford F150 single cab pickup with 75,276 miles; a SCAG zero turn mower with a 60 inch deck; and a 4 cylinder gasoline powered air compressor on a trailer. All those items will be sold as is. More information and sealed bid submission details will be made available on the City of Grayville Facebook page. Those bids are expected to be opened at the September 8th regular council meeting. The next regular council meeting is coming up next Monday, August 11th at 7pm.
