Apparently not much has been done since then.   The contractor in question, Jim Sharp, was in attendance Tuesday evening trying to get some clarification.  Attorney Greg Stewart says because it wasn’t done right the first time, there are potential issues no matter which way they go.  At issue is 3 different bids were accepted, one for labor, one for the building, and one for concrete.  After bids were awarded, it was determined more concrete was needed; otherwise, the building could fail much sooner than expected based on specs.  If they rebid the entire project as Stewart believes is required, the township could get the same bids on labor and the building or someone else could come in and underbid which would create a “breach of contract” issue with those contractors.  Sharp has said if he rebids with the additional concrete needed and loses out to someone else, he’s ok with that.

After further discussion, the township voted to rescind the bids they’ve accepted and to rebid the project.

In the month of November, Chairperson Pam Deig reported 15 sign ins, $1,317 in general assistance plus emergency help in the amount of $902.35.

The Carmi Township will reconvene on January 13th at 6pm.
