Carmi Kiwanis Corn Day Festival Schedule Coming Together

Much of the Carmi Corn Days schedule has been finalized.  The Kiwanis Club sanctioned event will kick off on Friday, October 12th this year.  First evening events include the Carmi Women’s Charity Club sponsored Tiny, Little and Jr. Miss Pageant.  It’ll be held at the Carmi White County High School Auditorium and will get underway at 5:30pm.  Downtown Carmi will be the scene for the Corn Hole Tournament.  Teams will start tossing bags at 5:30pm on the First Mid banking parking lot adjacent to the movie theater building.  Christian Music Entertainment will be held as well on Friday evening.  The artists, specific time and location are still to be announced.

Saturday will kick off with the Candy Corn Run to benefit the Guardian Center.  It’s set to begin around 8am.  The Pet and Kids Parade will get underway around 10am.  The Car Show begins taking registrations early Saturday as well and will officially take place between 10am and 2pm.  The Chili Cook Off will be held in Veteran’s Memorial Park from 11 – noon.  The White County Historical Society will host Corn Tasting in the afternoon at the museums.

We’re still awaiting the specific start time for the annual Corn Days parade and entertainment.  We’re also still awaiting the announcement of whom the entertainment will be.  Other features of the festival will include performances by the All Star Twirlers, Mark Rogers and the Appetizers, and also the Southern Illinois Showstoppers.  The Corn King and Queen coronation will take place as well on Saturday.
