Carmi Goes Nuts for Opening Day
Folks that took themselves out to the ballgame for Carmi’s Recreational Summer League Opening Day this past Saturday, were on their own for Cracker Jack.
The Carmi Kiwanis Club made sure those attending were well stocked with peanuts however.
Member Kati Sturgal heads up the Peanut Day fundraiser for the club and moved the event to the corner of Stewart and Hill near Bradshaw Park this year in anticipation of the crowds descending to play ball.
Kiwanis Club President Katelyne Wolff reports it was a success with the club bringing in more than $635 on Saturday alone. Additional boxes were sold to club members which will raise the dollar amount to near or over $1,000.
