No stranger to his line of work, and not even a stranger to the area, Nicholas Roberts has been in the funeral business since 2015. He’s been working locally for about 6 of those years and in December, he and his wife Sarah purchased Cook Funeral Chapels in December of 2025 with locations in Carmi, Crossville, and Grayville. The pair, along with employee Becky were officially welcomed as a Carmi Chamber of Commerce business Friday morning. Roberts hails from the Johnston City area. His wife is originally from just north of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He says the mission statement is pretty simple.
We’re just here to offer lower cost funerals with a lot of personal service and personalized things when people need them. Of course we also have monuments and do pre-arrangements as well.
