Burrell Park Born Learning Trail
The City of Carmi was fortunate to receive a generous donation of $34,500 from Vibracoustic and Freudenberg Group through a program referred to as e2 (which stands for education and enviroment) A groundbreaking ceremony was held Friday, March 22, 2019.
City and Vibracoustic employees here in Carmi will develop a Born Learning Trail at Burrell Park and will invite students and local youth groups such as Boy Scouts and 4H to assist with painting, planting foliage and other activities for this project. This idea and design is credited to Sheryl Blazier, former Day Care owner, whose dedication and efforts are helping to make this a reality and will be assisting with all aspects of this very worthwhile project.
The learning trail will consist of a paved walking path with nature signs, learning signs, musical instruments that can actually be played, games such as hopscotch that will be painted on the path. There will be a shelter with picnic tables and electricity for a reading area, etc. Benches will be placed along the path near the learning areas.
We hope to have the path and shelter constructed and signs placed by May with planting of foliage as weather permits.
