The Carmi-White County wrestling team captured the Black Diamond Conference championship with a dominant showing in a three-match sweep on Wednesday night at Johnston City.
The Bulldogs opened their championship run with a resounding 72-3 win over Goreville. The Bulldogs controlled the match from start to finish, recording four pins and benefiting from several forfeits. Kenny Clark, Caleb King, Cole Evans, and Hayden White all secured falls. Additional points came via forfeits from Dylan Combs, Gage Anderson, Drennan Aud, Connor Benham, Nolan Garner, Jazz Duckworth, Branson Burnett, and Laeden Vargas.
The Bulldogs continued their momentum against Fairfield, earning a 52-28 victory. CWC racked up five pins from Aud, Benham, Garner, Burnett, and Vargas. Duckworth and Evans added technical falls, while Anderson and King picked up wins by forfeit to help seal the win.
Carmi capped off the championship with a 46-24 win over JC. The Bulldogs recorded six pins, coming from Aud, Clark, King, Evans, Burnett, and Vargas. Benham contributed a major decision, and additional points were added through forfeits for Combs and Duckworth.
The Bulldogs claim their first BDC Title since 2010. Congratulations to Coach Gholson and the Bulldogs!
