Bulldogs Show Improvement but Fall to Chester at DuQuoin

The Carmi-White County Bulldogs delivered their best offensive outing of the young season, but it still wasn’t enough to slow down Chester, as CWC fell 64-56 on Thursday night at the DuQuoin Tip-Off Classic.

Chester jumped out to a 21-14 lead after the first quarter and stretched the margin to 38-27 by halftime. Carmi continued to battle, trimming the deficit to single digits at 48-39 heading into the fourth, but the Yellow Jackets held on down the stretch to secure the win.

Despite the loss, the Bulldogs showed major improvement on the offensive end. After scoring just 48 total points across their first two games, Carmi nearly matched that figure in three quarters on Thursday.

Merick Millhorn led the Bulldogs with a 21-point performance. Jaxon Bradshaw followed with 15 points, while Hayden Sauls added 12. Justus Tauiliili scored 6, and Kyzen Edwards added 2 to round out the scoring.

With the defeat, Carmi-White County drops to 0–3 on the season. The Bulldogs will return to DuQuoin on Saturday to take on Sesser-Valier in the 7th Place game at 11:00 AM.
