Barbre Still Guest Speaker; Topic Changed

Barbre Still Guest Speaker

There’s been a slight change to this Friday’s annual White County Farm Bureau meeting.

Doug Anderson, local Farm Bureau manager explained the change;

“Thank you for helping us promote our White County Farm Bureau annual meeting on Friday. Due to the government shutdown, our keynote speaker Martin Barbre will not be speaking as the “RMA Administrator”, but only as a “White County farmer”. He will not be speaking about his duties at the RMA or about anything related to RMA.”

Barbre the principal owner of Chestin Farms, north of Carmi, should have plenty of farming to talk about as he has been a lifelong White County farmer.

Friday’s meeting will include election of new directors. Brandon Barbre of District One, which includes Bt. Prairie, Gray, Mill Shoals and Phillips Township is up for election.

Mike Wicker of District Two; Carmi, Enfield and Hawthorne townships; Vance Burzynski of District Three; Emma, Indian Creek and Herald’s Prairie, also up for election.

Officers up for election are Larry Beck, president, Vice president Bryce Williams and Kevin Seifried, secretary-treasurer.

The meeting will conclude with lunch catered by Yesterday’s The meeting will begin at 10:30 Friday morning at the Farm Bureau Office here in Carmi. Pre-registration was required.
