Annie Jr Opens Tonight! Kiwanis Gets Preview Thursday; Set to Add Four Members; Makes $1,500 in Donations

It’s a hard knock life, but the sun’ll come out tomorrow.

It’s gonna be a fantastic show.  Guys…come watch it.  It’s gonna be so good.  I’m excited.

Annie Jr. hits the stage at Carmi-White County High School Auditorium Friday and Saturday at 6:30pm and Sunday at 2:30pm.  Nearly two dozen students dropped in Kiwanis Thursday with a preview.

Due to state testing, youngsters won’t get an encore performance in school next week making this weekend the only opportunity to see the show.  And as is typical, there are ways for little ones to get into the show completely free.  Student Director Chloe Veatch has details.

So the first thing is draw a picture of a sun.  The next thing is bring a parent.  Bring canned food.  Wear red like Annie.  Say “rotten orphan” because that’s easy to remember for a kid’s brain.

The show is expected to run about an hour and a half.  Asked if there were any surprises such as Daddy Warbucks shaving his head or whether Sandy was a live dog or a prop, the kids agreed you’ll need to come to the show to find out.

In club business, Kiwanis President Luke Sailer announced donations including a $1,000 gift from the club to White County EMA.  Director Alan Wurst was on hand to receive the check.  Kiwanis is also making donations to CWCHS for after prom activities, the Carmi Summer Recreation League to sponsor a team, and the upcoming Color Run.

Preparations continue for the Kiwanis Father Daughter Dance to be held at the Seed Station in Carmi on April 18th.  Also, the club is expected to welcome four new members in the coming weeks including Sarah Gray, Steve Cutchin, Allison Brooks, and Ryan Botsch.

Carmi Kiwanis meets at noon on Thursdays in the basement of the White County Farm Bureau.
