Every year after Corn Day, the Carmi Kiwanis inducts new and familiar faces into new leadership roles for the upcoming year.
Outgoing President Luke Sailer shared his feelings on ending his term on a high note,
“It’s been a fast year. I remember talking the first time here as president, it has been a super fast year. I don’t know how it’s already been a year, but it’s been great. I’m just so appreciative of each and every one of you. We’ve got great leaders in this club, great community leaders in this club. And it’s been a true honor.”
With that, Sailer welcomed the new Carmi Kiwanis President, Meagan Drone.
“Sitting at the first board meeting (Kiwanis), I realized that I had signed up to be in line for president. And I think I may have had a little meltdown, but I know it will be fine, because I have many great leaders and people to rely on. This community isn’t just where I live, it’s where I grew up, it’s what I call home, and it’s where I chose to raise my own kids. I’m just so thankful and grateful that I’m able to give back to the community that helped make me who I am today.”
Drone isn’t the only one in a new position in Kiwanis. Eric Rahlfs will serve as Vice President, Amy McCarty as First Vice President, and Roger Winter as Second Vice President. Bev Vaught and Kati Sturgal will continue as Treasurer and Secretary.
The 2027 Kiwanis Board of Directors includes Justin Dartt, Emily Williams, Jc Tinsley, Adam Winkleman, Katelyne Wolff, Larissa Hays, and Jeremy Jordan.
Dr. Frank Barbre acknowledged the board’s collaborative work and thanked everyone for their hard work and dedication throughout the years.
In other Kiwanis news, Amanda Nelson was excited to announce that the Carmi 8U Lady Dawgs softball team finished the Stringtown tournament in Evansville with an 11-1 record and won the Gold Bracket Championship.
