White County Sheriff Jordan Weiss is providing an update while Illinois State Police will only say their investigation is ongoing into alleged misconduct by a local corrections officer. Weiss says a special prosecutor has been assigned to the case in Gallatin County States Attorney Douglas Dhrykopp. We checked in again with Illinois State Police this (Wednesday) morning and have only received the same reply we were met with late last week, “This is an active ISP investigation and to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, there is no information available to share at this time.” One month ago, on the morning of November 11th, Weiss says a routine review of security cameras from the night prior showed what appeared to be inappropriate conduct between a corrections officer and a female inmate. Weiss says the officer was immediately placed on leave without pay and that status remains.
