The 2019 Candy Corn 5K Run is coming up as part of the Carmi Corn Day weekend festivities. Proceeds will benefit The Guardian Center, serving children in Edwards, Gallatin, Saline, Wabash, and White Counties. As in years past, the run will start and finish at the First Christian Church in Carmi on the morning of Saturday, October 12th. Registration will be from 7 – 8am, with the race starting at 8:15am. Online registration is available through The Guardian Center website at www.theguardiancenter.org. Entry fee is $20 for all participants with a t-shirt guaranteed for all early paid registrants by September 27th. Checks may be made payable to “The Guardian Center” or you may pay through PayPal. A link is available on The Guardian Center website. Awards will be given to the top three in each age group immediately following the race. The Guardian Center works to help children who have been reported as abused physically or sexually. Advocates provide emotional support, court assistance, referrals for counseling and a variety of other services to children and their families from the time of the child’s disclosure until the criminal case or other services are completed.
