In the early morning hours on Saturday, a White County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call about a vehicle that was sideways with the bed of the truck in a ditch, with the driver passed out at the wheel.
When the Deputy went to the door of the vehicle to try and wake the driver up, he noticed an intense smell of alcohol.
EMS was called to the scene, and the Deputy eventually woke the driver, 19-year-old Dalton Hosman of Norris City; he was then able to exit the truck and stated that he did not require medical assistance.
Following the preliminary breath test, which indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .180, Hosman was formally charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and placed under arrest.
Once Hosman was transported to the White County Jail, he was charged with additional charges of DUI BAC more than .08, Unlawful Possession of Alcohol by a Minor, and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol by a Driver.
In May of 2024, Hosman agreed to a plea deal which saw him take a conviction for unlawful possession of cannabis while charges of Purchase/Possession of Liquor by a Minor and Transport of Alcohol were dismissed. At the time, he was given 90 days of supervision, fined, and ordered into treatment while the court withheld judgment. It was February of this year when his certificate of completion for Alcohol and Substance Abuse was filed.
