Sept. 7 – 2-3 p.m. – “Poshard Reads Poetry for Pantries” will be held in the George T. Dennis Visual & Performing Arts Center Lower Lobby at SIC. Glen Poshard will read his own poetry as well as selections from his favorite poets. Donations will be accepted for local food pantries. Cost: Free. Sept. 10 – 6:30 p.m. – The SIC Falcons Volleyball team take on Vincennes University in the Joseph C. Deaton Gym.
Sept. 11 & 12 – 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Auditions for “How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical,” presented by the SIC Theatre Department, will be held in the George T. Dennis Visual & Performing Arts Center Theatre. Auditions are open to high school students and adults. Participants should select one song and one monologue from the provided materials—no other material is required. No dance call or callbacks. SIC students should bring a headshot and résumé. Sept. 13 – 10 a.m. – The Falcon Clay Classic, hosted by the Southeastern Illinois College Clay Breakers, will be held at the SIC Trap Range. The first squad begins at 10 a.m., with additional flights every 30 minutes depending on demand. The event is part of the MidwayUSA Hometown Challenge Raffle Shoot. Tickets are $20 and include 75 birds and automatic entry into the raffle. Presquadding with the head coach is required. Sept. 13 – 12 p.m. – The SIC Falcons softball team host Oakland City University in a double header at Falcon Field.
Sept. 15 – 1 p.m. – The SIC Falcons baseball team host Shawnee Community College at Falcon Field.
Sept. 16 – 1 p.m. – The SIC Falcons baseball team host Frontier Community College at Falcon Field.
Sept. 16 – 3-4 p.m. – The Southern Illinois Storytellers series continues at SIC’s Learning Commons with a book signing by Dr. James Schroeder, author of On the Trail With My Kids. Sept. 17 – 6:30 p.m. – The SIC Falcons Volleyball team take on Lake Land College in the Joseph C. Deaton Gym.
Sept. 20 – 8 a.m.-12 p.m. or 12:30-4:30 p.m. – BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification classes will be held at SIC in room T224. These one-day, 4-hour classes are open to the public and cover CPR training. Participants will complete a 25-question exam and receive a certification card. Sept. 26 – 7 p.m. – The SIC Theatre presents “Pinocchio” at SIC’s George T. Dennis Visual and Performing Arts Center Theatre. General admission tickets are $8. Sept. 27 – 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; 1:30-5:30 p.m. – Southeastern Illinois College will host a Men’s Basketball Skills Camp in the Joseph C. Deaton Gym. The 9 a.m.–1 p.m. session is for boys and girls in grades 3–8, focusing on fundamental skills. The 1:30–5:30 p.m. Elite Camp is for high school boys and includes advanced drills and competitive play.
