Carmi Police made two arrests following a traffic stop Tuesday evening. Just after 5 pm, officers saw 20 year old Haley Smith of Carmi driving on 5th Street, and knowing her license was suspended, pulled her over at the intersection of Smith and 6th Streets.
Smith was also wanted on a White County warrant for failure to appear on a charge of operating an uninsured motor vehicle. At the time of her arrest, Smith told officers she was in possession of cannabis, and she was cited for possession of less than 10 grams.
A passenger in the vehicle, 33 year old Priscilla Sears of Carmi was found to be wanted on a warrant and was also taken into custody.
Both Smith and Sears were transported to the White County Jail. Smith was later released after posting a combined bond amount of $450. Sears remains in custody on a $200 bond amount.
