Michael Serafini of Mikey’s Sport’s Shack Stops by Kiwanis Thursday

Michael Serafini opened the doors of Mikey’s Sports Shack in August 2026, and since then, he has made it his mission to help kids of all ages in a variety of sports at his indoor location at 637 Oak Street in Carmi.
The facility offers basketball, softball, and volleyball, and now also takes requests for parties, card games, line dancing, and wiffle ball. An indoor walking area is also accessible from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.; it costs $20 a month and includes one free 12-ounce coffee. Serafini is open to offering other walk times. Training or practice on your own costs $10 per person.
Serafini was excited to share that a line dancing class will be held on November 13, and he is accepting sign-ups.
Serafini shared,
“There’s a lot of things you can teach, you know? And, this is for us to reach down inside and to try to understand the meaning of teamwork.”
Mikey’s Sports Shack is also partnering with Pets At Risk, where he has an outdoor drop box for pet items, including leashes, collars, litter, toys, and a variety of food.
You can contact Serafini on the Mikey’s Sports Shack Facebook or TikTok page, and at the number 618-559-7695.
In Kiwanis news, bidding remains open for the donated 1937 T Bucket Roadster. The bidding has reached $3,000 and will close on Wednesday, October 27.
