Township Supervisor Pam Deig was absent, so Amy Wilson, the Town/Road Administrative Assistant, took the lead.
Township trustees agreed to table an item regarding the election of internal auditors. Wilson explained that the three auditors chosen will review invoices, deposits, checks, and the alignment of financial records. The Township has until November 26 to finalize the full Comptroller report.
Executive session minutes will remain private after board members agreed not to disclose them. Township Attorney Greg Stewart commented,
“For example, bad personnel disputes that you don’t want to air publicly are things of nature that would be controllable. Not of a direct public interest, but more trying to keep things private that were private. And I’m sure this will be published, and I wanna make sure that it’s captured correctly.”
Up next on the agenda, the board approved increasing the general assistance minimum standard to $466. Wilson stated,
“Now, what that is, we usually go with the health department on when they raise their cost of living, we raise ours to that standard. We can go above that standard, but they would recommend we not go below. So, it’s just a $10 raise.”
Speaking of general assistance, there were seven sign-ins for general and emergency assistance in September. The total amount given to families for help was $1,251.87.
For highway reports, Chris McEwing updated the board that blacktop work is underway at Pontca Lake and that he is looking to purchase a new plow. The current one is nine years old and needs to be replaced. McEwing stated that he would look into selling it. Also, Wayne White Electric canceled the tree removal, with no reason given.
The next Township meeting is November 17 at 6 pm.
