A Carmi man and an Enfield man are behind bars following arrests in separate incidents Monday evening. Carmi Police arrested 65-year-old Joseph Baker of Walnut Street on Main near Jessup just after 6pm. Baker was wanted on a warrant that dates back to charges he received about two months ago. On July 18th, Baker was charged with Criminal Damage to Property, Criminal Trespassing, and Disorderly Conduct. In addition to the warrant, Baker also picked up a new charge for Resisting a Peace Officer. Baker will presumably be seen in White County court Tuesday morning.
A bit later, Carmi Police placed 52-year-old Brandon Garlick of Enfield under arrest at Wal-Mart. The arrest occurred just after 8pm. Garlick was arrested on a warrant related to a Failure to Appear on a Residential Burglary charge that dates back to 2023. Garlick agreed to a plea deal in April of 2023 that resulted in a sentence of 4 years of probation, restitution, a fine, and 100 hours of community service. He remains detained at the White County Jail awaiting an appearance before a judge.
