The Carmi Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated The Kings Workshop with a ribbon cutting at 203 E. Cherry Street in Carmi.
Owned and operated by Lukas Gunther, The Kings Workshop offers a wide variety of 3D printing services and products, including multiple types of filaments such as wood, plastic, and metal, as well as 3D printer sales and maintenance. The business also offers laser engraving and specializes in custom orders, with creations ranging from hype chains for local athletic teams to custom car parts for area repair shops.
He is working toward adding a Pokémon vending machine. Future additions to the business include cellphone and console repair, children and adult classes, and additional interactive activities for young visitors.
A U.S. Army veteran, Lukas received his design training during his military service. What started as a home-based business quickly outgrew the space, leading to the opening of The Kings Workshop in Carmi. The business has continued to grow and is already anticipating another expansion. The Carmi location is the second location of The Kings Filament Forge, based in Centralia.
The Kings Workshop is open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday, noon-3 p.m. Appointments are available outside regular hours.
