Lady Bulldogs Win Silver at Fairfield Lady Mule Kickoff Tournament

The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldogs continued their strong start to the 2026 season on Saturday, going 3-1 at the Fairfield Lady Mule Kickoff Tournament and taking home the Silver Bracket championship.

Carmi opened the tournament with a two-set victory over Cisne, winning 25-15 and 25-22. The Lady Bulldogs then faced Newton in their second match of the day, falling to the eventual tournament champions 25-13 and 25-21.

The Lady Bulldogs bounced back in their final two matches. Carmi battled Lawrenceville to a three-set victory, dropping the first set 25-27 before responding with wins of 25-14 and 15-4 to take the match.

Carmi then closed out the day with a two-set win over Carbondale, 25-20 and 25-21, to claim the Silver Bracket title.

“The girls played their butts off today and brought tons of energy and enthusiasm,” said head coach Chris Lucas.

Norah Taylor and Callie Winter were recognized for their performances by being named to the All-Tournament Team.

Carmi-White County moves to 5-1 on the young season. The Lady Bulldogs will look to continue their hot start tonight when they travel to Wayne City on Monday.

Carmi will then host its first home match of the season Tuesday night against North Posey before welcoming Gallatin County to town Thursday.
