An Evansville man has been arrested and charged with multiple felony offenses following an undercover investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine in Posey County.
Posey County Prosecutor Thomas Clowers has filed the following formal charges against Jason Eros Johnston (age 51):
• Dealing in Methamphetamine, a Level 2 Felony (4 Counts);
• Possession of Methamphetamine, a Level 3 Felony;
• Neglect of a Dependent, a Level 5 Felony; and
• Maintaining a Common Nuisance – Controlled Substances, a Level 6 Felony (4 Counts).
If convicted as charged, Johnston faces an aggregate sentencing range of 10 to 30 years in prison, along with a fine of up to $10,000, under Indiana law.
According to court records, law enforcement officers with the Posey County Drug Task Force, Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) conducted an undercover investigation that resulted in multiple purchases of methamphetamine from Johnston at his Posey County residence. Between March and August 2026, Johnston sold more than 300 grams of
methamphetamine to an undercover police informant during multiple transactions.
On August 7, 2026, law enforcement officers executed a judicially authorized search warrant at Johnston’s residence. During the search, officers seized more than 350 grams of methamphetamine, U.S. currency, and firearms. Johnston’s wife and juvenile daughter were also present at the residence at the time the search warrant was executed.
Johnston is currently being held in the Posey County Jail without bond. He is scheduled to appear in Posey Circuit Court today at 1:00 p.m. for an initial hearing.
