A total of five meetings on our radar we’ll be watching this week. Monday night, the Grayville City Council will meet as will officials with the Village of Crossville. Norris City leaders are also set to gather. Crossville will hold a public hearing prior to their regularly scheduled meeting for the purpose of discussing the application for a state Community Development Block Grant. Leaders there are hoping to get money to help reline manhole covers throughout the village. The regular meeting gets underway at 6:30pm. Among agenda items include recommendations on handling of future complaints. Trustee Nikki Jacobs requested that agenda item. Also, trustees are expected to discuss the Franchise Agreement with Crossville Communications. Officials are also expected to make plans on Trunk or Treat.
In Grayville, leaders will meet at 7pm. The only agenda item of note includes commissioners revisiting that timber purchase proposal discussed at the previous meeting. Commissioners will also most likely approve a road closure request for October 3rd from 6am – 4pm for a car show. We’ll be doing our best to have coverage from both of those gatherings Tuesday morning.
Monday night, we’ll also have a reporter on location for the Norris City monthly village meeting. On the agenda are items including a possible Homefield rate renewal, a recap of Norris City’s 250th celebration held on July 18th, and also an update on oil and chipping roadways. In new business, elected officials are set to discuss a resolution for Dairy Days, the 2027 Motor Fuel Tax, fall clean up, a potential change to the September meeting date and/or time, plus a phase 5 payout estimate and utilizing TIF money for a sidewalk repair. Leaders will gather at city hall at 7pm.
Tuesday night, we’re tracking the Carmi Township. Unfinished business there includes employee health insurance policies and premiums as well as family coverage and also a potential amendment to the Township/Road Employee handbook. In new business, leaders will review bids on surplus equipment, bids on road projects, and also a proposal to take ownership of 7.5 acres of land owned by Marilyn Gentry. That Carmi Township meeting is set to get underway at 6pm Tuesday at the Township building on South Church Street in Carmi.
Also Tuesday, we’ll have coverage of Enfield’s regularly scheduled August meeting. Agenda items there include street lighting which has remained on the agenda for years. Leaders will review an estimate for community center repairs and also discuss a park grant. Other agenda items listed surround water rates, framing pictures from Booth Elementary, a security camera, and a state truck. New business includes discussion on golf carts and UTV permit renewals and a resolution for parade permit. The final agenda item will deal with relocating mobile homes within the village. Enfield leaders will meet at 7pm Tuesday.
