Back in June, Carmi Police Internet Crimes Against Children received a cybertip about a residence on Seventh Street in Carmi.
In the early morning hours on Thursday, the Carmi Police, with assistance from the White County Sheriff’s Department, conducted a search warrant on that residence.
There, 31-year-old Austin Rossiter was arrested on multiple Child Pornography charges, with additional charges expected. According to online court records, as of now, Rossiter is facing five Child Sexual Abuse Material charges and one charge of Animal Abuse.
Rossiter had his first hearing before the Honorable Judge T. Scott Webb, who agreed with the State’s Attorney that Rossiter remain behind bars.
He will have a Preliminary Hearing on August 17 at 10 am.
