Carmi PD Arrest Six

A Friday night arrest was the tip of the iceberg and led into a busy Saturday evening for Carmi Police.  Just before 11pm Friday night, officers were dispatched to a 2^nd Street residence in reference to 58-year-old Angela Castleberry allegedly swinging a rake at other people at the home.  Officers arrived and placed Castleberry under arrest on a charges of Domestic Battery and Resisting Arrest.  An 18-year-old female called in the report and there were also two juvenile witnesses according to the report.  Castleberry spent the weekend behind bars.

Saturday activity began just before 7pm when an officer pulled over 45-year-old Kelly Jones on Fackney at 7^th Street.  Jones was wanted on a felony warrant for Possession of Meth that dates back to May 27^th.  She was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance following a search of the vehicle.  She was held over the weekend.

Also in the 6 o’clock hour Saturday evening, officers pulled over 44-year-old Josiah Stover of Cherry Street.  He was placed under arrest on a White County warrant for Violation of an Order of Protection.  That arrest occurred on Main at 7^th Street.  He also remained behind bars over the weekend.

59-year-old Marion, Illinois resident Dawn Marks was released with a notice to appear following her arrest Saturday at about 9:30pm.  She was pulled over on Oak at 9^th Street and subsequently placed in cuffs after cops found her with a suspended registration due to a mandator insurance violation.  She’s facing a chare of Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle and was also given citations for Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Operating a Motor Vehicle with Suspended Registration due to an Insurance violation.  Marks will be due in court on July 14^th at 9am.

Just before midnight, Carmi PD pulled over 32-year-old Brayden Overfield of Carmi.  He was placed under arrest and charged with Driving while License Suspended and Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle by Driver.  The passenger, 26-year-old Haley Thompson, also of Rice Street, was placed under arrest on a charge of Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle by Passenger and also charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon for being in possession of a handgun.  Both were released with notice to appear citations and will be expected to appear in court on July 28^th at 9am.
