The Carmi-White County Baseball team will face Benton tomorrow morning in the IHSA 2A Mt. Carmel Regional Championship Game.
Benton upset Mt. Carmel yesterday by a final score of 9-7.
The Bulldogs and Rangers did square off earlier this season, but only for one inning before the game was called due to rain. Carmi comes into tomorrow’s championship with an 8-19 record as they have won four straight games.
Fans can watch and listen to tomorrow’s game on 97.3 FM WRUL and the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel. First pitch is set for 11 AM.
The winner of tomorrow’s game will move on to the Benton Sectional to face either Carterville or Massac County next Wednesday.
Carmi-White County juniors Andrew and Connor Benham traveled to Eastern Illinois University yesterday for the IHSA State Track Meet.
Andrew finished in 19th place in preliminaries in the 1600 Meter Run with a new personal best time of 4:38, and Connor placed 28th in Pole Vault. Neither were able to advance to this weekend’s State Finals.
Congratulations to the Benham brothers and the rest of the CWCHS boys track team on a great season.
Carmi-White County senior Javan Lucas traveled to Chicago yesterday for the IHSA State Tennis match. Lucas won his opening round match by scores of 6-4 and 6-0. In the second round, Lucas would fall to the number 9 ranked singles player in the state. Lucas then fell in the elimination round, finishing 1-2 on the day.
