The Carmi-White County Softball team defeated Hamilton County in extra innings yesterday afternoon by a final score of 16-14. 

The Lady Bulldogs led 6-0 after two innings of play, but the Lady Foxes answered with a 4 spot in the 4th inning to cut the lead to 6-4. Hamilton County then exploded for 10 runs in the top of the 7th inning, taking a 14-6 lead. 

The Lady Dogs did not quit, as they answered with 8 runs in the bottom of the 7th, capped off by a 3-run home run by Caroline Simmons to send the game into extra innings. 

After a scoreless top of the 8th, Addi Elliott hit a 2-run walk-off home run over the center field wall, the first home run of her career, giving the Lady Bulldogs one of the craziest wins in school history. 

Carmi finishes the regular season with a 9-19 record and 3-7 record in the Black Diamond Conference. The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Benton on Monday for the IHSA Regional Quarterfinals. If Carmi wins they will face top-seeded Mt. Carmel in the Carmi Regional on Tuesday.

The Carmi-White County Baseball team picked up a 1-0 win on the road at Crab Orchard yesterday afternoon. It was a 0-0 ball game through 5 innings, but the Bulldogs finally broke through thanks to an RBI single by Maxon O’Daniel that scored Merick Millhorn. Hayden Sauls earned the win on the mound, pitching 6 ⅔ innings allowing zero runs on just two hits with nine strikeouts. 

The Bulldogs improve to 6-19 on the year, they will travel to Benton on Monday before hosting Hamilton County on Tuesday for their final home game of the year. 

The Carmi-White County Girls Track team traveled to DuQuoin yesterday for the IHSA 1A Sectional, and 6 Lady Bulldogs will be heading to the IHSA State Track Meet. 

Norah Taylor qualified for State after placing 2nd in High Jump, breaking the CWCHS school record in the process.
Torrie Rider qualified for State after placing 2nd in Shot Put.
The Relay team of Ellie King, Aubrey Kessler, Audrey Taylor, and Callie Winter qualified for State after placing 2nd in the 4×400 Relay. 

The 4×1 and 4×2 Relay team of Norah Taylor, Annie Winkleman, Lyla Wolff, and Ellie King didn’t qualify for State, but they did place 3rd and break CWCHS records in both races. 

Other top-6 finishers for the Lady Bulldogs were Makyla Seibers who placed 3rd in the 1600 Meter Run, Julianna Bolerjack placed 6th in the 1600 Meter Run, Kennedy Grider placed 5th in the 100 Meter Hurdles and 4th in the 300 Meter Hurdles, Callie Winter placed 6th in High Jump and Brooke Rahmoeller placed 5th in Shot Put and 5th in Discus.

The six Lady Bulldogs who qualified for the State Track Meet will travel to Eastern Illinois University in Charleston next Thursday. 

The Carmi-White County Boys Track team traveled to Christopher for the Black Diamond Conference Meet, and the Bulldogs finished in 5th Place out of 11 teams. 

Andrew Benham is the Black Diamond Conference champion in the 1600 Meter Run, finishing with a time of 4:40.84.

The Bulldogs will travel to Fairfield next Wednesday for the IHSA 1A Sectional.

The Carmi-White County Boys Tennis team fell to Salem on the road yesterday by a final score of 6-3. The Bulldogs fall to 10-4 on the year, they will travel to Fairfield on Monday for their final match of the regular season.
