Town Wide Rummage Sale Set for Norris City

The Norris City Village Board met Monday night for about an hour.  Scott Mareing was there and has this report…

The lights are in for Beaty Field and will be installed when the poles come in.

The village is putting together a building permit process for those that want to put up a building here.

Ashley Garlick of the Chamber of Commerce addressed the board concerning the country’s 250th birthday celebration.  She talked about putting together events for the public to experience, including fireworks.  There are some that don’t want to have a fireworks display because of possible injuries that could occur in putting a display together.  The board decided to take her proposal under advisement and put together a committee to decide what to do.  They also approved July 18th as the day for the celebration.

Even though at a previous meeting, Mike Ray withdrew his TIF money request, he then decided to accept an amended proposal of $25,000 for roof repairs.

TIF money in the amount of $4,000 was approved for the final bill for the Park Street project.

Bids for the storm sirens are now out and are due March 18th, to be looked at on the 19th.

A survey for the area on Level Street and Fourth Street was approved.

The board approved an agreement with PEFA for purchasing gas.

The Town Wide Rummage Sale will be on May 1st and 2nd and Spring Cleanup Week will start May 4th.

In the Police Report for February, there were four accident reports, three traffic stops, zero citations issued and five verbal warnings.  There were also 13 calls for service.

In the Animal Control report, the raccoons that have bothering people have been removed.

And the board agreed to again donate $340 to field a team for this year’s Golf Scramble.

The board adjourned at 7:57 PM.

The next village board meeting will be on April 13th at 7 PM.
