The March meeting for the Village of Mill Shoals had little on the agenda.
Following the brief agenda, Clerk Tullis stated that he had spoken to Enfield about their online payment system and suggested reaching out to Wayne White Electric, since they have received water payments for some customers in this way. Tullis agreed to follow up with Enfield about the situation.
Transitioning to other matters, the burn pile at Mill Shoals has once again had lumber, nails, and screws dumped off. That resulted in patching a tire on the village’s backhoe at $150 per patch. Trustee French said he would look into an affordable camera system to help address these issues going forward.
Members of the Skillet Fork Ruritans will be having an Easter Egg hunt on the old grade school property on March 21st. The board agreed, but the former Community Center/school building would remain unavailable due to plumbing issues. Port-O-Potties will be brought in for public use at no expense to the village.
Speaking of the former Community Center, the board discussed the best course of action to address the center’s issues. The Center was costing the village a considerable amount each year with heating and electricity, but the building needs repairs. They unanimously agreed to request that the Village attorney attend the April monthly meeting to consider the legal actions they can take.
Looking ahead, summer is just around the corner. Clerk Tulils informed the board that WADI’s Summer Work program will be available again this year and hopes to find interested individuals to participate.
Finally, the board noted that garbage rates will go up $1 starting April 1st.
