Carmi Police had a busy 24 hours with arrests from early Saturday morning through early Sunday. It was just after 4am Saturday when Carmi PD pulled over two men on Highway 14 at Industrial. Authorities would place 19-year-old Evan Bare of Mill Shoals and 22-year-old Gage Bittles of Sims under arrest on charges of Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle by Driver/Passenger. Following booking, both were released with Notice to Appear citations and given a court date of March 24th.
Saturday afternoon, police were called to a Burrell Street home in reference to a physical altercation going on inside a trailer there. Officers say they heard screaming and yelling between 44-year-old Charles Scott and 49-year-old Patti Burton and once able to get both individuals outside the home, they arrested the pair on Domestic Battery charges due to physical signs of injury. They remain behind bars as of Monday morning.
Just before 9pm Saturday, Carmi Police pulled over 36-year-old Devin
Ward of Crossville at Little Giant. He’s facing charges of Driving while License Suspended and will be in court following book and release on March 24th.
Around the same time, officers were called to a fight that was allegedly occurring in the street near the intersection of Burrell and Stewart. Police arrested 40-year-old Joseph Wampler of Norris City on charges of Aggravated Battery, Reckless Conduct, and Criminal Damage to Property. Two other suspects are listed in the report, but unnamed, both 30-year-old white males as well as a witness. Wampler remains behind bars as of Monday morning awaiting a hearing before the court.
Finally, just after 1:30am Sunday, Carmi Police corralled 26-year-old Ricardo Ramirez near his home
in Neely Circle. Authorities list improper lane usage as the reason for the stop. Ramirez would subsequently be placed under arrest on a charge of Driving under the Influence with a DUI with a Blood Alcohol Content of .08 or more kicker. Ramirez was booked and would then be released Sunday afternoon with a notice to appear set for March 31st. His Ford Focus has been impounded.
