On Valentine’s Day weekend, four individuals were arrested by the Carmi Police on various charges.

Around 4 pm on Saturday, police pulled over Candace Carlson, a 29-year-old resident of Norris City. Initially stopped for expired, suspended registration, Carlson was ultimately arrested for possession of cannabis in a motor vehicle by a driver. She also received citations for suspended registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. After Carlson’s vehicle was towed, police scheduled a court appearance for March 24.

Shortly after Carlson’s arrest, Carmi Police arrested an Albion native for operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration and driving while license revoked.
This individual, Melissa Huff, was later released from the White County Jail with a notice to appear in White County Court on March 24.

In the very early morning hours on Sunday, a Carmi man was pulled over for improper lane usage, but that wasn’t the end.
Subsequently, Damian McDowell was arrested for DUI of Alcohol. Following a DUI investigation, police also charged him with DUI BAC over .08. Additionally, McDowell received citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage, and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver.
McDowell was released from the White County Jail on Monday and given a court appearance for March 24.

In the next incident, Carmi Police conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Malibu for suspended registration.
The driver, Shannon South, was arrested for possession of cannabis in a motor vehicle by a driver. He was transported to the White County Jail and later released on pre-trial release conditions.
