Carmi Police Arrests in the First Weekend of February

Carmi Police arrested five individuals for a slew of charges.
Carl Matthews was arrested on his White County warrant for Aggravated Assault from January. He was booked and released with a First Appearance set for March 10 at 9 am.
The second arrest occurred on Friday morning, when a Norris City woman was taken into custody at the White County Courthouse for her White County arrest warrant for Battery.
Kristi Southerd was transported to the White County Jail and was given a court date for a First Appearance on March 10 at 9 am.
Later Friday afternoon, police pulled over Jerry Beeson and issued a notice to appear citation for Driving While License Suspended. Beeson was given pretrial release conditions and a First Appearance for March 10 at 9 am.
On Friday night, the fourth arrest was made at the Rock Bottom Lot, involving Jeffrey Edwards, a Rosiclare native.
According to the police report, Edwards was stopped because the license plates on the vehicle he was driving registered to another vehicle.
Police arrested him on numerous charges: Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Display of Registration, and Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle by a Driver. Edwards was also issued citations for Illegal Transportation of Alcohol by a Driver and Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
He was booked and released from the White County Jail with a First Appearance set for March 10 at 9 am.
Lastly, on Saturday, officers conducted the fifth arrest during a traffic stop at East Main Street and East First Street for littering.
The passenger in the vehicle, Dustin Grant, was arrested for Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle by a Passenger, with an additional citation for Littering. Grant was taken to the White County Jail and was later released on pretrial release conditions.
The driver was given a citation for No Valid Insurance, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
