Lady Dogs Snap 5-Game Skid With Senior Night Win

The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldogs celebrated Senior Night in style Thursday evening, earning a dominant 69-34 victory over Flora in front of the home crowd.

Carmi set the tone early, taking a 19-15 lead after the first quarter before pulling away in the second. The Lady Bulldogs exploded offensively to build a commanding 45-23 advantage at halftime and never looked back, extending the lead to 62-29 by the end of the third quarter on their way to the 35-point win.

Torrie Rider paced Carmi with a career-high 19 points in an impressive performance. Addi Elliott and Caroline Simmons each added 13 points, while Ella Newell chipped in 11. Jaya Smith finished with eight points, and Quincy Accord and Eva Attebury each scored two. Natalie Goemaat rounded out the scoring with one point.

Elliott also reached another historic milestone during the game. Just 24 hours after joining the 1,000-point club, she knocked down her 169th career three-pointer in the 2nd quarter to become the Carmi-White County girls basketball all-time leader in made three-pointers, surpassing the previous record held by Kelsi Kuykendall.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improve to 15-9 overall and 6-3 in the Black Diamond Conference while snapping a five-game losing streak.
