Leaders with the City of Carmi heard presentations from all four local bank representatives Thursday morning as they continue to grapple with getting a handle on growing credit card fees. There was progress in that information was shared from Payroc through Banterra Bank, Clover with Peoples National Bank, Banc Card from First Bank, and Heartland of First Mid Bank & Trust. But questions still remain as some figures calculated savings various ways. Potential savings ranged from $25,000 per month to nearly $30,000 but again, council and leaders will need to spend more time with hard copies, and more questions will need answered before the city can choose from the pitches made. Mayor Bill Stendeback wrapped up the 47-minute gathering.
My feeling is that we don’t have apples to apples, oranges to oranges comparisons here right now. So, we’re going to have to work on getting those before we can make an informed decision about any of this I think. We’ve got a lot of work to do here to sort this out. We’re probably going to be in touch with additional questions after this is over and we appreciate the time you’ve taken to be here with us to help us.
Council is next scheduled to meet in regular session December 2nd at 5:30pm.
