Edwards County States Attorney Announces Recent Sentencings

 

On September 19th, a pair of individuals learned their sentences in Edwards County court.  States Attorney Eric St. Ledger tells us 56-year-old Frank Eaton of Albion was sentenced to 4 years behind bars to be followed by 6 months of mandatory supervised release.  His case dates back to 2023 and ended up in a conviction on an Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance charge.

Also September 19th, Grayville resident Scott Funkhouser was sentenced to a total of 8 years in an Illinois Department of Corrections facility following a plea deal.  His convictions are on charge of Unlawful Failure to Register as a Violent Offender against Youth and Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, both class 3 Felonies.  Judge Jerry Crisel ordered that the sentences in each case run concurrently.  Both of those cases date back to 2024.  2025 charges of Possession of Meth, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Criminal Trespassing were dismissed as per the plea deal.

September 30th, 49-year-old Edward Piland of Albion learned his fate…the next 3 years behind bars followed by a term of 1 year mandatory supervised release.  He was convicted on a charge of Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer and Aggravated Intimidation, both class 2 Felonies.  The offenses happened in June of this year.  Edwards County and Grayville law enforcement handled the investigation in the case.

Friday, October 10th, 58-year-old Wayne Davis of Mt. Carmel was sentenced to 3 years in jail.  That will be followed by 6 months of mandatory supervised release.  He was convicted of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, a class 3 felony.

And last Friday, October 17th, 40-year-old Daniel Seibert of Grayville was sentenced to 6 years in prison plus a year of mandatory supervised release.  He also faced a charge of Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer and was convicted.  That case dates back to 2024.
