A 24-year-old pregnant woman from Saline County is facing charges after Mt. Vernon, Indiana Police caught her driving high on meth and amphetamines, according to Police Chief Justin Rutledge. It was 2:20am last Wednesday, August 13th when officers pulled over a silver minivan driving west on 4th Street with an expired license plate. The report indicates Addyson L. Brown-Jones told the officer she’d been stopped for the expired tag a few days prior. During the stop, the woman was allegedly unable to follow instructions for field sobriety tests, took an oral fluid test that tested positive for the aforementioned narcotics, and said while she hadn’t used drugs to her pregnancy admitted to recently ingesting a benzodiazepine that she didn’t have a prescription for. Brown-Jones was subsequently arrested for Operating while Intoxicated and she refused a blood draw.
While a tow truck was called to remove the vehicle from the scene, an inventory was taken revealing crystalline substances that field tested positive for meth, suboxone strips, THC vapes, straws, and other paraphernalia that contained suspected meth residue. Additionally, officers found a Crown Royal bag containing suspected meth, 1.5 grams of powder that field tested positive for fentanyl, capsules with drug residue, a piel that also field tested positive for fentanyl, and several other pieces of drug paraphernalia.
The Indiana Department of Child Services was contacted and Brown-Jones was taken to the Posey County Jail. She’s facing charges of Possession of Narcotics (Level 6 Felony), Possession of Meth (Level 6 Felony), Possession of Legend Drug (Level 6 Felony), Possession of Schedule II, III, or IV Drug (Misdemeanor), Two counts of Operating while Intoxicated (Misdemeanor), Possession of Marijuana (Misdemeanor), and Possession of Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor).
